This record is more than a mere "I Hate Everything " rant. "Julie Ruin" is indeed inflammatory at times, but what cutting-edge expressionist art isn't? This CD can rock you and suprise you. Some tracks sound like lost new-wave/punk demos straight from ''80, some are like riot-funk, but the whole effort carries an experimental feel.

  7. Nam says:
Julie Ruin, the alias of Bikini Kill vocalist Kathleen Hanna, is a solo artist who makes up tunes on a broken sampler and a $40 drum machine. In the hands of lesser talents, this would be a project best left on a homemade cassette/5(16).
  8. Tygosho says:
But after a hiatus from music due to Lyme disease, her latest band, The Julie Ruin, feels like the perfect blend between her two other bands. The noisy, punk energy of Bikini Kill blends harmoniously with the synth-laden, almost dancey energy of Le Tigre to give Hit Reset a new sound for Hanna.
