You can hear the precursor elements of ”Jimmy Mack” as early as Martha & the Vandellas first chart single ”Come and Get These Memories”, but the polish isn’t there yet. ”Jimmy Mack” is Reeves at the full height of her vocal powers.

"Jimmy Mack" is a pop/soul song that in became a hit single by Martha and the Vandellas for Motown's Gordy imprint. Written and produced by Motown's main creative team, Holland–Dozier–Holland, "Jimmy Mack" was the final Top 10 hit for the Vandellas in the United States, peaking at number 10 on the Billboard Hot in and at number-one on the Billboard R&B Singles daytancobahrelampostbumhackliftdure.xyzinfo: Soul/pop.

"Heat Wave" was Martha & The Vandellas second lp, and like most early R&B records it was normal for groups to cover the hits at that time and this is a cover lp, and Martha, Roslind & Annette handle these songs as if they were written for them, this is one of my favorite lp's of all time!4/5(7).

Martha & the Vandellas’ original of ‘Jimmy Mack’ was recorded in , a little earlier than ‘Dancing In The Street,’ but consigned to the shelf by Motown’s quality control head.

Jun 02,  · Interesting Vandellas release but besides the unfortunate fact that it's a bootleg release, they've ruined the glorious original album cover. They added on the live album from 67 as a 'bonus', which has most likely been recorded/transferred from a vinyl record.
